Battle of the Glen Single Malt Whisky celebrates one of the most defining chapters in Canadian whisky history. In 2000, just after Glenora Distillery introduced its first proudly labeled Glen Breton Rare, the Scotch Whisky Association challenged the use of the word “Glen,” arguing it could mislead drinkers into thinking the whisky was Scotch. The dispute ignited a global media storm – newspapers, magazines, online forums, and whisky writers around the world weighed in on the fight.

As the only Single Malt Whisky distillery in North America at the time, Glenora quickly became a symbol of Canadian craft, independence, and cultural pride. When the distillery ultimately prevailed in 2009, the victory resonated far beyond the courtroom.

Battle of the Glen was created to honour that moment. The special-edition packaging features curated press clippings and excerpts from the international coverage that followed the case, capturing the whirlwind of attention that helped put Glen Breton on the world stage.
